‘My dad will never forgive me’: Woman who said she was raped by her father tells CNN
A woman who said her father raped her said he has never forgiven her.
Her husband, who has a concealed carry permit, said in a video posted to Facebook that his daughter told him she was assaulted by her dad in 2016 in the middle of the night.
The woman, who asked that her name not be used to protect her children, told CNN’s Jake Tapper that her dad beat her in a bathroom, raped her, and then left her in the bathtub for about 10 minutes before calling 911.
She said she then went to the hospital and filed a police report.TAPPER: Your father’s claim is that you had been in the bathroom and that you were raped, and that it was the first time he’d ever been to the bathroom with you.
She’s saying you were unconscious for the entire time.
How do you reconcile that?
The video goes on to say that the woman said she woke up after her father was gone.
TAPPER : How do we reconcile that with your statement that she was unconscious for 10 minutes, then was awakened and told that you’re awake?
The woman said that her father told her he had been having sex with her, but she was too drunk to remember what he said.TANNER: But the woman told police she was in the shower when she said her dad raped her.
So, does that make her more credible than her husband?
TAPER: It’s really hard to reconcile what she said with what she did.TANG: This is a story that’s very emotional, but it also is very heartbreaking.
I just want to know why my father did what he did.
It’s a very difficult story to tell, but my heart goes out to you.
TANG: We also are asking you to please please do not make this the focal point of your life.
The victim wants to speak up.
And we are asking for your help to understand what happened.
The story of a rape victim in California who says she was beaten and raped by a family member was featured in a national TV special called “My Father Was a Rape Victim.”CNN’s Elise Labott, Ashley Killough and Amy Goldstein contributed to this report.
