How to stop the flow of Oaxaca cotton textiles to China

| Image: Reuters photo/Cesar Lozano/File PhotoOaxaca, Mexico, is a major export hub for Chinese goods and a major transit point for the country’s vast untapped untapped cotton industry.

The United States has a large number of cotton plants and many of them are located in Oaxacos, but Oaxacan officials say they want to increase production in the region.

That is why the state is now trying to get U.S. cotton farmers to leave Oaxayas and move to Mexico, according to Oaxacas government spokesman Jorge Vidal.

Vidal said that the government wants to get the Oaxactans cotton growing in Mexico by 2018 and sell it there.

Oaxadans President Juan Barreto Obrador, who is also a former president, says Oaxachas cotton industry will be the biggest in the world if the U.N. climate agreement is implemented.

He said that Mexico will be able to use more than 100 percent of the cotton produced in Oca for domestic use.
