What we learned from our interview with Milliken textile designer, Kate Mills

Kate Mills, a seattle native, has been creating and distributing beautiful textiles since she was six years old.

Milliken is a small, family-owned company that makes textiles for a wide range of clients, including designers, fashion houses, fashion magazines, and even the Seattle Police Department.

We asked Mills about how the textiles are made, the process of making a piece of textiles, and how it all relates to her personal relationship with knitting.

“When I was in seventh grade, I was very excited about learning to knit,” she told us.

“I had a lot of trouble with my fingers and my thumb and my middle finger, so I really wanted to learn how to knit.

So I wanted to knit a scarf for my little sister and then my brother-in-law.

They asked me if I wanted a scarf to knit and I said, ‘No, I’d like a scarf.'”

She made her first scarf, which she describes as “the best scarf I’ve ever made.”

Mills then made another, which was a collaboration with a friend.

“Then I made a hat that my mother made for me, and then a shirt that my mom made for my mom,” Mills said.

“That was the beginning of my obsession with textiles.

I loved the fabric, the construction, and the look.”

Milliken’s handmade textiles were also something of a source of inspiration for Mills’ own art.

She found inspiration in her grandmother, who used to knit fabric.

“My grandmother would make my favorite yarns, and she made them all in a little old wooden chest,” Mills explained.

“She would also make me a scarf, so that’s how I got that look.”

Mills is a proud member of the Seattle Textile Guild and has participated in numerous knitting workshops and events.

“The fabric of the scarf, the color, the pattern, the texture — they’re all things that I feel very strongly about,” Mills told us about her knitting style.

“It’s not something that’s something I just do because it’s fun.

It’s something that I want to do because I want my knitting to be recognized and recognized by the community.”

Mills has also enjoyed teaching knitting to children.

“Kids are amazing knitters and can sew,” she said.

Mills is also an avid reader, as she has been a regular reader for over 30 years.

“Reading is the best way to learn, because if you can’t learn, you’re going to have problems,” Mills added.

Mills also said that she enjoys the craft of needlework.

“Knitting needles is like a very slow art,” Mills noted.

“You get very excited when you start to see a new stitch, and you start using your fingers and your thumb and your middle finger and the other hand to really create the pattern.”

Mills recently shared a new piece of yarn called A Tale of Two Knits, which is based on a story by Margaret Atwood.

“A Tale of two Knits is a beautiful yarn, a wonderful yarn for knitting,” Mills remarked.

“This is my second piece of knitting, and I hope people will love it as much as I love it.”

We’re not surprised to hear that Mills has become a well-known artist in Seattle.

Millickson and Mills have been known to collaborate on designs for various apparel and clothing accessories.

In addition to the knitting, Mills has a passion for children’s books and she has even written a children’s book, “Caring for a Little Princess,” which is currently being translated into English.

The book is about Mills’ mother, a grandmother who passed away when Mills was just six years of age.

“Every time I read the book, I think about her and how she taught me about how she loved me and how much she loved us and the world,” Mills recalled.

“As a writer, I’ve been inspired by books like these because they are like stories that I can relate to and really feel like I’m in her shoes.”

We hope you enjoy our interview as much we do.
